    bah. Stupid invasive non-native starlings. We have red-bellied woodpeckers in our neighborhood. More than once I’ve seen starlings drive the woodpeckers out of their nest holes and take them over.

    Here’s a recipe for starling pie (“four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie”).

    The filling:

    > Filling:
    > 4 and 20 starlings, plucked and dressed
    > Parsley
    > Sage
    > Rosemary
    > Thyme
    > Fennel seed
    > One turnip
    > One carrot
    > One stick of celery
    > 1/2 cup chicken broth
    > 1 teaspoon corn starch

    The recipe notes “Brian doesn’t say if you can substitute cowbirds for starlings…”
