I really could not believe this when I first read it. I did not know he was sick. Ken was such an integral part of AA. He and his multi-talented family are an important part of what makes AA special. He lives on in our gardens!

I got so much value and joy from knowing Ken for many years now. He was an inspiration to many people and his life was a seamless model of kindness and gentleness. I wish I can be at the memorial yet right now I am teaching nursing college students in China. Chuck Barbieri

I found out just yesterday eve,and I am still in utter disbelief regarding Kens Passing. My Heart gos out to the family.Tears of parting of this world, tears of gratefulness & joy of having met such an enlightened soul sooooooooo awake in a very real down to earth way.Forever thankful for the light and wisdom on the way…Feeling very humbled by Kens humility and selfless humanitarian service.I continue to learn from you Ken and feel your spirit in silent meditations. It will always be an “Indian Summer” In My Life…

Thank you for the beautiful tribute Linda. I too worked at Indian Summer and still relish the thoughts of those days.

Ken was a truly unique human being; I think he managed to live several lifetimes in one.

My thoughts and prayers go to Cathy and the kids.

Linda Diane passed along information about a memorial for Ken King. It will be held on Monday, June 1 at 6 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Ann Arbor, 4001 Ann Arbor Saline Road. A notice on the Frog Holler Farm website describes the memorial as a casual affair in spirit and attire, and encourages people to bring a story, poem, picture, song or special memory to share. I regret not having had the opportunity to know Ken. He was clearly a special man.

Ken was my favorite person to watch play volleyball. He always played with such enthusiasm and intensity, and with real heart. He proved that you can never be to old to get dirty and dive in the sand. He will be missed deeply.

We’ve been going to the Farmers Market for many years, and always the highlight of the experience is the Frog Holler stand. Ken was an extraordinary man, always ready with a smile and great advice. I will miss him but his legacy lives in our gardens of the Earth and our gardens of the Heart. I can write countless stories about his kindness, his love for life, and his wonderful family. But it’s enough to say he touched our lives in a way that will always be remembered. So long, Ken, the Gardens in Heaven will be well tended now.

Cathy King let me know this morning that the memorial service for Ken is tentatively set for Monday, June 1, at 6 PM at the UU Church in Ann Arbor. I know some advance notice can be helpful… but check for more details and confirmation later.

I can still clearly recall meeting Ken at an open mic night at the Ark in 1996. After hearing Moonlight Bright as Day, I remember thinking, “this is one of the most talented folk musicians I had ever met.” I have since met literally thousands of folk musicians as the a stage manager for the North American Folk Alliance and as a recording artist and engineer, and I still haven’t changed my mind.

Mathilda and I will always remember our month on their farm working with their son Billy on our second album. Ken was an inspiration to us when we barely knew him, continued to be one as we got to know him well, and will always be one as long as we continue to play music. Ken will be much missed.
