The (incredible!) food is only part of the nourishment to be had at SELMA. I've only been twice so far, but I was thrilled by the company and the soul and the energy. Bravo, Lisa and Jeff, for untangling the governmental snag with such grace and such clear eyes on the prize. Many (REAL) happy meals to come!

I love my breakfast at Jeff and Lisa's every Friday. I wish every day started like that.

As someone who has gone only twice so far but plans more future visits, I am very impressed by Selma (although envious of the beautiful neighborhood and spacious house and surroundings)! I have never seen that parking is a problem, and it's far enough from the school so that anyone dropping off their kids wouldn't have any problem doing so. And, I have never seen anything resembling a traffic jam! Many, perhaps most, people arrive on foot or by bicycle.

The feeling of community as Lisa and several others mention is palpable. When you go to Selma, you're with friends enjoying a big breakfast party together. Nice, easygoing people, great food, and pleasant surroundings and all for a great cause: to help local farmers and other growers produce healthy, sustainable produce and other food products as long as possible during the year.

I always meet old friends and make new ones, often people who are friends of friends. Lisa and Jeff are great, and I'm so happy a workable and legal compromise was worked out to keep Selma alive and kicking and open.

Yeah for the compromise! I'm so glad that this could be worked out. Lisa and Jeff are doing an amazing thing - building community. Talking to the neighbors and thinking outside the box will save the world.

I've never been to SELMA and have always meant to go. I support their goals and lots of people I know have gone -- the notion of community as mentioned above is what made it something I'd always intended to do. I had noticed the lack of buzz lately and wondered what was up. It's good to see that they have come to a workable solution.

That anonymous letter is one of the more pitiful things I've seen in a while. I'm sure the writer mustered a lot of indignation on behalf of the laws being broken and the great danger presented to the community (especially those poor school children who had to pass by such an atrocity), but I'm betting that the inconvenience of being unable to park where s/he wanted to was the real precipitating factor.

I have been attending the Friday gatherings at Jeff and Lisa's house since March, missing only a handful of days. I would have been sorely disappointed if they had been forced to shut down. I never thought of SELMA as a "restaurant." To me, it has always felt as if Jeff and Lisa were just having a bunch of people over for breakfast. The novelty of invading a random stranger's home and sitting in their kitchen wore off long ago; now, I go there to sit with friends in a place where my name tag is stuck to the cupboard by the door.

For the record, the chickens seem very happy in their backyard space.

Bravo! What a perfect way to solve the problem. I confess I had nightmares about a crazed restaurant inspector crashing one of the Friday gatherings like the way Mill Pond was treated at the Farmer's Market not that long ago.

What a perfect fit.
