Certain other Ann Arbor news… ventures seem like they don’t have the time or concern to take the simple action of a phone call. It’s good to know there are still a few real reporters in town.

Yes, to your assumption in #3. I walk to the library, but I was curious and thought that others might like to know about the parking details.

1) The former Y lot was initially planned for both public parking as well as some equipment staging. Now, they plan to use the Y lot solely for public parking and will do equipment staging elsewhere.

2) Susan said the rates at both the former Y lot and the library lot are identical.

3) Assuming that you’re asking whether the former Y lot can be used as a place for 10-minute free drop off/pick up, Susan said the Y lot is not designed for this. She said the existing free drop off/pick up space remains on William Street adjacent to the library, and any available nearby street meter could be used for quick stops but are not free.

Has that plan been changed? (Maybe that’s what the “alternative access” sentence referred to — that it’s still a possibility?)

Will the rate at that lot be changed (lowered) to match the rate that is currently charged at the library lot?

Will library patrons (and Jerusalem Garden and Earthen Jar carryout grabbers) get the 10-minute free parking for drop-offs/pick-ups that they currently get at the library lot? (I forget if that was just an incentive for drivers to not stop in front of the library on Fifth.)

And it was not a Civics class, it’s a mandatory assignment for Government class. :)
