		<description>Nice column, although I think you are referring to President John Quincy Adams (1825-1829), not John Adams (1797-1801). Adams never returned to Washington after his defeat by Jefferson in 1800, while Adams served in the US House from 1831 to 1848 (and died while speaking on the floor of the US House.</description>
