Barton Pond

Stopped. Watched. icon

Above the dam. Encountered Jerry Mack balancing (not stacking) rocks against the wind and the whims of passing walkers. A few others had been inspired to also try, and there was a mini forest, not all of them his. [photo]

Beautiful! I love to take my dog there when the weather is nice.

I love to take my dog there when the weather is bad, as well as when it is nice. There were a lot of dogs there today, all obediently staying on the paths because the wood cocks are nesting, according to the Burma Shave like signs at the entrance of Huron River Drive.

I’ve watched Jerry Mack build his beautiful balanced rock sculptures on the shores of Lake Michigan and the Big Sur Coast of California. I no longer live in Ann Arbor, but I visit regularly and hope to see these still standing when I arrive next month.

Come visit, Lynda. Kristi probably needs Jerry’s help getting her rocks balanced again after the move. (Hmm, that sounds a little strange.)
