UM football spring game brings out “Your car is dirty!” signs from Pioneer softball team. They’re fundraising with a car wash. Offered me a bicycle wash. Washing anything outside sounds really cold on a 41-degree, windy day.

Warning! The city decided (in a rather sneaky fashion) to ticket all the cars parked in the Allmendinger Park area as if it were a fall football Saturday. The woman writing the ticket told me that city council decided on this late Thursday. I have lived on Keech for 13 years and can tell you that they have never ticketed before for the spring football game. I for one will be sending my ticket back with the suggestion that if they want it paid they can do it themselves.

I’m guessing that information provided by the ticketing officer — about the “city council” deciding the issue on late Thursday — can be chalked up to loose, casual reference. The city council was not in session on Thursday. And in any case, decisions about when and where to focus resources for ticketing on a particular day are unlikely to be the purview of the city council. I think that inside city hall that’s a decision that’s ultimately made by chief of police Barnett Jones, perhaps with input from others.

I think that I heard Roger Fraser mention something about this at the council meeting on April 5. He announced the spring football practice, and if I recall properly, made a comment about regular football parking rules. There was no discussion, I believe.
