That town has had problems with new downtown residents in high rises discovering that undergraduates like to drink and get loud. [link]

How will that work? I know that there are problems reported in NYC when housing is placed in close proximity to jazz clubs. Has this issue been discussed anywhere?

Has Denali place not taught city administrators anything? Do we really want another first floor of parking facing pedestrians? This site needs to include first floor retail.

It’s disappointing that our largest public investments in the downtown remain warehouses for cars, rather than spaces for people that everyone can enjoy.

Also, will the first level of the garage be fronted by retail? It’s not clear from the renderings I’ve seen.

While I sympathize with Dominick’s concerns, it’s hard for me to see how the Monroe street conversion would be a “disaster” for the place. As best as I can tell, most of their clientele is local, and the Law School expansion would seem to give them even more patrons.

However the article I saw expects Borders to only be contemplating a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganizaion, which may help the company survive as General Motors has done by restructuring debt and divesting from unprofiatble operations.

On a separate note, John Mouat and his team have been diligently working on transportation issues and the Plymouth- State connector study needs serious consideration as its impact would be profound.
