A2: Business
The Detroit News reports on the uncertainty facing Border’s East Liberty store in Ann Arbor. So far, the downtown store has been spared – even after the company declared bankruptcy last week and is closing 200 stores, including another Ann Arbor location in Arborland. But if Borders cannot reorganize and emerge from bankruptcy successfully, the fate of all stores is uncertain, according to the report. Phil Pochoda, director of the University of Michigan Press, said, “If Borders were to close here, the center of town wouldn’t have a bookstore, and that’s just preposterous.” [Source]
