Same thing in the Detroit suburbs, where coverage just stops west of 275 and north of 13 Mile. Does anyone know how decisions like that get made?

Setting the link properly is the responsibility of The Chronicle, not of the observer who submits the item. So this glitch was ours, not Blyer’s.

When I set up the item initially, I noticed the scary warning as I tested that the link worked, but satisfied myself that the image was sufficiently accessible once you click on the “display media” button. In retrospect, it probably could have saved some frustration, if I had linked straight to the image file itself in the first place – as I’ve now done.

Now is perhaps a good occasion to note that photos are absolutely not a requirement for Stopped.Watched. submissions. We try to make sure that the observation is understandable without the aid of a photo. That’s because these items are meant to be a textual record – but obviously photos are sometimes really helpful and certainly always welcome.

Click on that and you’ll see the picture.

The URL on the tweet took me back to the tweet itself. Some editorial intervention welcome.

No need to sign up for anything.

The Chronicle should not accept such photos. Other Tweet photos have been published.

I kinda of thought maybe they were operating in the area.

I was standing out in front of the DDA offices at the time and saw it pause at Washington Street. As anyone would in that situation, I pranced down to the corner to maximize my chance of being captured in the next iteration of the Goog’s Street View record of Ann Arbor.
