I’ve had mornings like that.

“Pretty”: Can a possum be pretty? They all look like escapees from hell to me, with those beady red eyes and tiny sharp teeth.
“White”: They all are, unless dirty.
“Plump”: Pregnant, or carrying a brood of joey’s in her pouch.
“Barely able to waddle”: Can’t blame her, but beware of rabies just in case.
I’ve seen possums before, as you described, but this one looked like someone’s pet — kinda fluffy. But I suspect you are right about the preggers part, and there is no way I was going to mess with it.
I wouldn’t worry too much about rabies, except that they found a rabid bat recently, and your possum was out in daylight, which is not their nature.
My dad always thought it was fun to grab them by the tail and swing them around (I have no idea why). And I have a perverted little dog that’s always trying to hump them. There’s no figuring dads and dogs, but personally I’d keep away from it too.
