That said, it’s a fun thing to do, maybe the next step is to have readers and interviews and others, provide sound effects, so trolling a cursor over an image evokes a sound instead — found sounds, guest cartoon foley artists.

Popup or rollover text is indicated by the TITLE attribute. Unfortunately, IE decided to implement rollovers with ALT, and people started to exploit that, and most other browsers followed suit. But Firefox follows the spec, which means FF users don’t see the rollovers. If you really want to get the behavior you’re after in all browsers, you should put the rollover text in BOTH the ALT and the TITLE attribute.

Semi-relatedly: I’m curious what your browser breakdown is between IE, FF, Safari, Chrome, etc.
