Slow voting causes busy voters to leave. But targeting precincts, you can have a significant effect on the election.

For example, a few years ago the Washtenaw Republican Party chair showed up at Thurston and challenged all voters who looked asian. Since there’s a significant number of asian graduate students in that area, the lines suddenly went down the street!

Nobody expects to have to bring citizenship papers to the polls — especially those who were born here. That’s what makes the Ruth Johnson voter suppression particularly evil.
