Patriotism is love of country, which means devotion to the country’s ideals — freedom from censorship, freedom of religion, the right to vote for everyone — the basic democratic standards. In all of the crowd of players and watchers, how many are really thinking of these fundamental principles? Does this routine, non-thinking, group sing actually remind anyone or inspire anyone to work for those principals?

Some low-hanging fruit, for sure.
