Several grants were accepted during the meeting: (1) about $2.5 million in federal workforce development funding; (2) a $665,704 federal grant to pay for two outreach workers with the Washtenaw Health Plan (WHP), who will focus on increasing children’s participation in federal Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), known as children’s Medicaid

What exactly is federal workforce development? Is this like what SPARK does? Some hazy, nebulous definition of something with the word “workforce” in it so we all assume it’s to make jobs or train people to get jobs?

And, is that $665,704 for two people for one year or 5 years, or just until it runs out or what? And what does increasing children’s participation mean? Making more people aware that children’s midicaid exists and should be used? Selling medicaid over existing insurance plans?
