A coyote came out from behind m house and rn down the street. Maybe it was after all the rabbits around here.

The coyote’s instinctive fear of cougars has led to the development of sound systems which repel coyotes from public places by replicating the sounds of a cougar”.

My neighbors are concerned for their beagles but usually coyotes avoid humans. I wouldn’t leave any toddlers unattended, though. Or let my small pet out at night.

What has brought them into the city is the explosion in population of prey like rabbits, groundhogs, and other small furry morsels.

If there are coyotes on the loose in the area, the city or the county should hire professional hunters, and get rid of them. They are too dangerous with children around.

(We live in the NW area as well.) I don’t know how the dynamic with backyard chickens would go. He is welcome to the rabbits.
