I believe they all need to be more tightly regulated though. They may prove to be a successful business model, but at what cost for local cabs and other services? I have found the service to be reliable and efficient. Without exception, the drivers were friendly and drove safely, unlike too many cab rides I have had in too many cities. I hope the city does not make it impossible for Uber and Lyft to operate here.

I can’t tell if Mr. Newman was serious in calling on the city to issue a cease-and-desist on the Uber and Lyft apps themselves. Such an order would be completely unenforceable.
