The resolution is required from a local government entity by the state’s Bingo Act in order for the United Way to hold a charitable fundraiser that includes gambling. There had been some discussion of the resolution at the board’s Feb. 26 administrative briefing – at Wednesday’s meeting, county administrator Verna McDaniel clarified that the nonprofit needed permission in order to raffle off gift baskets at the March 9 Power of the Purse fundraising event.
