According to Curt Hedger, the county’s corporate counsel, the 18 mills would include special millages, except for millages approved by voters to pay off the principal and interest on bonds or other indebtedness, including contractual obligations.

The 18 mills is the maximum for the county, townships and the Washtenaw Intermediate School District. That cap does not include the other school districts, cities or villages.

I wonder what maximum level the 1964 board set for Ann Arbor? And is that operating millages only or are special millages folded in?

Mary – thank you so much for a thorough and accurate account of our meeting. A far cry from that ridiculous headline in the Snooze saying we “might raise taxes”. When people ask me, “What is going on in town?”, I tell them to read the Chronicle!
