CBC lost the rights to broadcast these Winter Olympics. At least, I still have CBC where I am, west of Ann Arbor.

I grew up with channel 9 — it was as much a part of the detroit tv landscape as 2, 4, and 7 (and 50 and 20, too.)

They would cover the hockey live, at least, but they’re a commercial network, just like NBC. Nothing beats CBC. Unbelievable they lost it. They should have been allowed to keep the rights as a public service or something, with the Games being held in Canada.

Everything has to be Inspiring! Moving! A powerful story of perseverance in the face of overwhelming obstacles! In a poignant moment, [athlete] remembers her grandpa! I just want to see people run and jump and dive and ski–stop selling me a narrative.

Such a bummer to hear that the CBC won’t be carrying it! That’s always been one of my favorite free perks of living in southeast Michigan. Does anyone know if we can pick up CTV here, whether by broadcast or Comcast?
