I always wanted to use that structure by (old) St, Joe’s, but by the time I could afford to own a car, it was gone.

I believe you can still find those parking structures in NYC. The are a great way to save space without the expense of putting up a structure.

If the DDA is going to take on the responsibilities for all of the above mentioned services and enforcements then that’s going to result in a significant reduction in head count at city hall. What does the employees union say about this? How is this going to affect future city payrolls?

re #2: You don’t enter the structure at all, an operator brings your car up and down; no searching for your car in a dark, urine-smelly structure, more like valet parking.

I could envision a privately operated structure like that on the edge of downtown. If they had a shuttle service, your car could be waiting and running when you get back.

Whatever happened to parking structures like this one from the movie Atlantic City [link]? I recall there used to be one a long time ago near the UM Hospital. Could they fit into the mix needed for downtown, or did they stop making them?
