In a forced choice for-against, I’d conclude based on Anglin’s remarks a the council meeting, as well as at a recent park advisory (PAC) commission meeting, that he’d be against using public-private partnerships in the parks system. A more nuanced version of his position would be something more along the lines of: We need to be very careful and thoughtful before embarking on a relationship with a private entity in connection with the parks system. The conversation at the Feb. 15, 2011 PAC meeting included a discussion of an RFP that the city will be issuing for the operation of concessions (snacks, drinks, etc.) at recreation facilities, something the parks staff has heard from facility users that they’d like to have available.
