Leah, I feel immensely honored by your decision and statements of support. Your ideals and leadership have inspired me since I first started attending County Board meetings. The Board will lose a great deal of institutional knowledge as yourself and Barbara Bergman retire from the Board. She too has taught me a great deal. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do.

Well, Vivienne, you have guessed wrong. I intend to retire and lend my enthusiastic support to Yousef Rabhi for County Commissioner. As I told him in an e-mail earlier today (which I sent from my Blackberry from the Seattle Airport, having just returned from Beijing, China) that I think he has a distinguished career in public service ahead of him, and I would be honored to support him for County Commissioner. I have served honorably for 12 years and it is now someone else’s turn. He and I share the same core values, and I know he will do an outstanding job.
