There was a mind-boggling number of little black tadpoles in the large pond a couple of weeks ago, now they have metamorphosed. Toads transform at a smaller size than do frogs of comparable adult size, so now there are myriads of tiny tiny toads, no bigger than a fingernail.

This elicits childhood memories of watching tadpoles develop in a “lagoon” near my parents’ student housing in Iowa. Maybe inspired my interest in biology.
