I’ve read point by point the candidates responses and I did not discern any significant differences in their points of views as to what leadership uniqueness and/or qualities either would bring to the table. I guess their appointment to the board will depend on how comfortable the majority board feels with the candidate and whose political influence prevails. While it is important that the eventual appointee “mesh” with the existing board and conform to the existing norms of confusion, which is what I think they are looking for, it’s even more important for us as citizens of Washtenaw County to view this potential appointee from a leadership perspective. Based on the reporting by AA Chronicle, neither of these two candidates offers much in that direction. However, regardless of which one is annointed by the board, we the citizens of Washtenaw County still have an opportunity to elect a strong leader during the regular election time. BTW: I think Ann Arbor Chronicle is awesome in its accuracy and reporting of complex county issue.

It sounds as though the commissioners are fortunate in having two excellent candidates to choose from.

Depending on where they live, I would expect that the newly selected commissioner will be running from a district that conforms fairly well with the current Pittsfield Township district, which as I recall was not much altered in the redistricting.
