1% would be something over $1 per sidewalk square. Perhaps we could commission local artists to draw a picture into the wet cement every time a new square is poured.

The amount of detail covered is so great that Dave neglecged to mention that the Local Development Finance Authority is funded by”capturing” school aid taxes from the DDA. That is, the LFDA is funded with school taxes, at the expense of public education. The LDFA, in turn, exixts to fund Ann Arbor Spark.

Dave also overlooked that the sidewalk millage will be subject to the “1% for metal objects” program, wherein restricted funs, like the possible sidewalk millage, are diverted from their legally restricted uses to fund objects purported to enhance cerain people’s aesthetics.

At the County’s Ways and Means meeting on Wednesday Oct. 19th, Yousef Rahbi moved a budget amendment that the county delete $52,000 ($26,000 a year for two years) from Michigan Assn. of County dues and allocate it to the Delonis Center. Supported by Leah Gunn, the motion passed unanimously. It needs to be finalized in the 2012/13 budget. So, the County is doing its part as well.
