Lara Treemore SpearsThu, 01 Dec 2011 19:10:21 +0000http://annarborchronicle.com/?p=76687#comment-81380A couple clarifications on the Ruthven project: 1.) it is not a wetland mitigation project, and 2.) the trail from Geddes Road is quite nice for foot traffic; the path in from Huron Parkway is quite wet. The City is not proposing any wetland fill that could result in the need for wetland mitigation (defined as constructing a new wetland to replace filled wetland). This is entirely a sediment removal and streambank stabilization project. I realize the legal definition of “wetland mitigation” may not be apparent to all, but it is an important distinction relevant to the scope of the project and environmental cost/benefit.

Rod JohnsonThu, 01 Dec 2011 13:04:21 +0000http://annarborchronicle.com/?p=76687#comment-81370I hear you, my brother. Since my unfortunate exile to Scio, I shudder to think how many weeks or months of my life have been spent sitting at the intersection from hell.

I felt like a dope after I posted that, but the truth is I’m not downtown-centric, I’m avoid-the-Jackson-Maple-Stadium-intersection-at-all-costs-centric. I have shortcuts everywhere, scurry down back streets, do anything to avoid traffic. If a street is posted “No Thru Trucks” I take it as an invitation to a shortcut. So, I don’t drive on Jackson or Huron enough to picture it right off.

Rod JohnsonWed, 30 Nov 2011 22:37:42 +0000http://annarborchronicle.com/?p=76687#comment-81283I believe the Dexter intersection is the point where Huron turns into Jackson, so the description is correct, though maybe confusing for the downtown-centric.

Could this be clarified? That would be from the point where Huron splits to form Dexter and Jackson, to where Dexter meets Maple, correct?

Mary MorganWed, 30 Nov 2011 02:09:02 +0000http://annarborchronicle.com/?p=76687#comment-81032Sorry it was unclear: Yes, B2B is shorthand for Washtenaw County’s Border-to-Border trail, conceived of as a non-motorized pathway across the county, generally following the Huron River. The Friends of the Border-to-Border trail has a website with more info, including maps: [link]
