At the risk of being off-topic, I have been building up a head of pique at the city’s/DDA implementation of e-park meters versus the previously used coin meters — as it relates to handicapped parking. For myself and as a caretaker, it’s made it near impossible to get to a large part of downtown, and I feel the whole setup, along with the skimpy numbers of spaces, and their ill considered locations, is a violation of Title II of the ADA. I am considering a complaint to the Justice Department to have them look at it. If anyone also affected would like to get involved, share examples of noncompliance, and cosign this letter, please contact me at cosmonican[AT]gmail[DOT]com. If some lawyer wants to take it on instead, be my guest.

I think in the light of the current climate of opinion regarding the city, the U and the DDA, it would be best if *all* conversation took place in public. It’s not like the public has a lot of trust in the way business is done here. We need less private “rehearsing” and more transparency.

Re #1: If you mean from parking fees, about $2 million a year now go to the general fund (of the City of Ann Arbor).

It gets more complicated from there.

Can someone explain to me what DDA does with the money they collect? It is not apparent from the website.
