It’s amazing to think about all that has happened in open space and farmland preservation around here since the low point: defeat of the county Open Space/PDR millage in 1998, during the heyday of urban sprawl development. Thousands and thousands of acres have been preserved in perpetuity, and Washtenaw County will be both green and productive far into the future.
