I’m one of those who wouldn’t contribute $50 to a millage-opposition campaign (or a millage-support campaign, for that matter). However, I did recently contribute $50 to the Chronicle. Campaigns aren’t necessary when the news media play their appropriate role in a democracy. I appreciate the Chronicle doing its part.

I routinely rely on the Chronicle to attend the meetings I miss, research the issues I would otherwise accept at face value, and provide a reliable public record for those of us who wish someone remembered that stuff.
Thank you for helping make Ann Arbor a better place to live – and for keeping elected officials’ feet to the fire. I know what hot feet smell like.
