He’s a fine athlete but not a consistent or talented quarterback. I’m ready to get past the richrod hangover and move back to our non-star balanced team approach. And to be clear I would have said this last week (before Notre Dame).

I am not at all a football fan, so my husband was shocked to hear me comment about Denard Robinson a few weeks ago. His star quality is evident if it can catch someone whose football exposure is limited to reading the headlines while scrolling past. (I admit to stopping and reading the article sometimes when he is mentioned.) Best wishes to him. He sounds like the kind of “college athlete” we should have.

He has started with little but family, albeit that is no small thing, and made the most of it with a series of mature decisions. He doesn’t have to turn professional to be a success and will be remembered fondly by most/all Michigan fans (net of the opera buffs). In addition to his talents, his personality is winning.

But let’s not wax too elegiac just yet, there is a a lot of football to be played, and a lot of accomplishments ahead of him.

A great kid, and a great story. Thanks.

How often do we get a world class talent that is world class everywhere? Of course he could do some things better at times, but he shows up at other sports as a regular student, he never complains about anythign and he takes responsibility when he makes mistakes. What else could anyone ask for.
