I am an Ann Arbor practing attorney and I am impressed with Catherine McClary’s record as Washtenaw County Treasurer.

I have known Catherine McClary for many years and have worked with her very helpful, capable and caring staff as it utilizes programs she has developed in assisting property owners to effectively avoid foreclosure.

Ms. McClary’s personal integrity and competence is superb.

Her hiring and retention of a competent and committed support staff is to be commended and her office’s utilization of modern technologies in caring out the duties of county treasurer results in excellent customer service.

I endorse and strongly support Catherine McClary for re-election.

Catherine McClary maintains a record of excellence in her work for the County. Most recently she has initiated and developed an innovative and very effective program in response to foreclosures. This program has been a major and positive service to owners facing foreclosure and to the County as it relies on tax revenues of properties facing foreclosure. Ms. McClary brings to her job as County Treasurer highly relevant prior work experiences in the area of finance and banking which serve our County very well. Having known Catherine McClary for many years I have very high respect for her integrity and strong motivation to serve County residents and County government.

I have known Catherine McClary for over 40 years. I have seen her function as an investment counselor, county commissioner, Women’s Crisis Center and Safe House activist (working to pass the millage for the first publicly supported shelter for victims of domestic violence, building the shelter and as President of the Board)as well as her service as the longest serving County Treasurer in Washtenaw County history.

Catherine is an information user in the sense that she listens to the experience of others and learns from them. Her innovative programs have brought in tax money that would have otherwise been lost to the county. She has made it possible for many county residents to stay in their homes when they would have lost them due to foreclosure. Her employment of social workers on her staff has not only benefited the residents they’ve helped, but also increased revenue to the county.

The County Treasurer’s office is one part of government that is working well. I strongly urge everyone eligible to vote for Catherine McClary.

I have know Catherine McClary for almost two years. She is a person of the highest integrity and is smart, organized, experienced, a great manager and leader and compassionate. There is no better person in our community to serve as County Treasuer. Please re-elect her. Thank you.

While is certainly sounds as if Ms. Chockley is indeed a fine person with excellent character, our county needs a Treasurer who is not only a good person, but also well-qualified and experienced. The candidates’ forum made it even more abundantly clear that Catherine McClary is the right woman for the job.

I served with Marlene Chockley on the Board of Commissioners, and she is, in my opinion, a conscientious person of high integrity. She is also a Republican of strong convictions traditional to that party. Her quoted comments make that clear. Actually, the County Treasurer has little to do with the level of taxation. That is the role of the Board of Commissioners. Chockley is candid in revealing that taxation is her chief concern.

We are very fortunate in our County Treasurer, Catherine McClary. She has been an outstanding public servant and deserves to be re-elected overwhelmingly. Her work with foreclosure issues alone indicates that, and she has also managed the Treasurer’s Office with high competence and within the scope of the office.
