I wondered that too. It’s true, I suppose, that Republican candidates are somewhat marginal as candidates in some areas–sacrificial lambs in heavily Democratic districts. But I wouldn’t say that John Floyd, for example, is anything less than a serious candidate.

I don’t understand why so many Republican candidates have failed to show up for LWV debates. The LWV is truly nonpartisan and has even been accused by some advocates of leaning Republican. They are a mainstay of our participatory democracy.

I’m also sorry that we are losing Jeff Irwin for parts of Ann Arbor (including where I live). Sorry Jeff, can’t vote for you this time.
