The absence of microphones was surprising, an unfortunate oversight in planning for the meeting. Otherwise, the Board should be applauded for holding its summer meetings in the neighborhood branches. Going “on the road” is a simple, inexpensive way for the Board to enhance its communication with the public: it becomes more visible, and the public perception of the Board’s approachability may be improved by this action. All without contracts or consultants! I hope for a large turnout at the Pittsfield Branch for the July meeting, and I hope that Board meeting sites will continue to rotate among all branches in the future.
