In Ann Arbor, traditional partisan labels have become somewhat blurred if not meaningless. Rick Snyder got a lot of votes from nominally Democratic locals, to the extent that they probably elected Jeff Irwin. (Ned Staebler and Rick Snyder signs were seen cohabiting on many lawns, but it was necessary to vote in one or the other primary.)

The problem is Ann Arbor's partisan election system; Our Fair Chronicle has pointed that out in detail: [link] If the only meaningful election is the Democratic Primary, then don't be surprised if Republican voters - who may have quaint ideas about being citizens too, with actual rights - want to participate in that.

I was less than thrilled to read in the Daily that Grand’s strategy is to campaign among Republicans in a Democratic primary.

Hm. I wonder if Grand has any background in Democratic politics. Kunselman regularly attends AA Dem meetings; I can’t remember ever having seen Grand at one.
