MacKenzie separated out some of the larger wood pieces, which are now stacked on two flatbed trailers. (The lumber looked to be preservative-treated to me.)

Most of this site is covered in impervious paving. Taking up all the asphalt and concrete seems necessary in order to re-grade and create better stormwater management as planned.

The concrete (at least) could have been repurposed in place. It’s a valuable heat sink if nothing else. A permaculture food forest could have made excellent use of those walls.

(Perhaps this had been a salt storage shed?)

Meanwhile only some large chunks of concrete remained from the first building. The backhoe operator was picking those up and bashing them against each other, trying to break them into smaller pieces.

That contract with MacKenzie was on the city council’s June 17, 2013 consent agenda. It was for $31,618.
