There is a very high statistical correlation between the incidence of ALS (or Lou Gehrig’s disease) and service of U.S. military personnel during the Iraq War. The same phenomenon has been noted in published neurological studies among veterans of the Vietnam War.

One theory is that these soldiers had exposure to certain types of chemical agents which led to progressive motor neuron cell death.
