Following up from a former Stopped.Watched. I posted on Monday. Dessange on Fifth Avenue is open for business! It was my mistake not leaving a message on Monday. A staff member called today and informed me that all is well over there. Stopped by on Tuesday and they were open. It smells great in there!

Tried to deliver something to Dessange Salon & Spa on Fifth Ave. No one was home, even though they were supposed to be open. Tried to call but no one answered. Wonder if they’re closed for good . . . [Editor's note: Update as of Jan. 13, 2010 in comment below – no, they're not closed.]

About 3:00 p.m. all of State Street between Washington and William was shut down. Looked like a movie filming was going on.

Signs up on the old Kaplan Test Prep and Instant Furniture building that say “Coming Soon” with a picture of what appears to be a brewery? Could this be the venture with Jolly Pumpkin? No website or anything, so that’s all I know.

Man with a cart taking out cans from the recycle bin on State Street near Urban Outfitters. Not sure if that was the point, but it does make it easier than fishing them out of the trashcans.

Just checked out a brand new store in Nickels Arcade (where Ana Banana used to be). It’s a computer repair place called Beagle Brain. It’s got all sorts of cute laptop cases and other gear as well.

Cafe Felix on Main Street

8:55 a.m. There’s a sign on the window at Cafe Felix advertising “Coffee and Counsel.” Every Monday from 3-5pm you can stop by Cafe Felix, grab a cup of coffee and get 20 minutes of free legal counsel from Leslie Butler.
