Indigent Legal Services OK’d by Council
A $200,000 contract with Reiser & Frushour P.L.L.C. has been approved by the Ann Arbor city council, to provide legal representation as court-appointed counsel to indigent defendants in the 15th District Court. Action came at the council’s Aug. 7, 2014 meeting.
The court is required by law to appoint attorneys to represent indigent defendants when potential punishment, if convicted, includes the possibility of incarceration. According to the staff memo accompanying the item, Reiser & Frushour was selected from a pool of three firms that responded to a request for proposals (RFP).
