The new tall poles with the freshly trimmed trees makes for an unsettling scene.

Who foots the bill for the poles? DTE? Do Comcast and AT&T pay rent to AT&T? Or do the polls belong to the city?

The pole that gets me is on State near Granger. It’s a monstrous tapering rectangular thing.

@rod: me, too. I have never seen its ilk anywhere else. I just cannot figure that thing out.

I wonder when they will remove the half height old poles? Why were they left in place, tops lopped off?

Rod, Sarah: that pole on State is a composite laminated pole. It is stronger and more durable than a traditional pole. If you check out the website of the manufacturers, they also cite other interesting benefits like “woodpecker resistant”.
