    Maybe injured by a car.

    If so, it has survived for a while with those injuries. There was no odor in the area.

    There’s a story on Ann Arbor.com that might be related. A sick skunk was caught in that area. It has distemper, which can be transmitted to unvaccinated dogs. Distemper can cause neurological symptoms.
