West Park Pond

Stopped. Watched. icon

Besides the usual mallards (adults and ducklings) on and around the pond, tonight a killdeer patrolled the edges. While I was trying to identify it, a heron swooped down from above the oak trees and began stalking, catching, and swallowing goldfish.

    I would pay to see a staging of Great Blue Heron v. 20-Pound Carp.

    Yes, thanks for the video! My wife saw the heron there a few weeks ago, but we didn’t know it was returning.

    I wish the city would remove the muskrat(s) so the waterplants in and around the pond could get established.
