Another exemplary shoveling effort by Republic Parking folks on surface parking lot, starting in the 4 am darkness on Christmas Eve morning–lot neatly and nearly completely cleared of new (and older) fallen snow.

Yesterday (or maybe the day before … in any event, snow was falling hard) I was going past that same location and saw the Republic Parking IT guy, Stephen Smith wrangling a snowblower.

Hooray. We have a carefully tended parking lot, and sidewalks full of ice, and big puddles of slush at the street corners.

    Yay for cars.

It’s about the time of year to print out the sidewalk clearing reminders from http://wbwc.org/snow/

The URL for sidewalk clearing reminders (given by Matt above and thanks very much for publishing it) seems to pertain to residential districts. Is there anything geared specifically to DOWNTOWN? The access to sidewalks at intersections is vital for pedestrians but, if the truth be told, those areas are often neglected.

I wrote a paragraph for businesses to add to mine:

Businesses: All snow and ice which has accumulated on the adjacent public sidewalk prior to 6am must be removed by noon. Immediately after the accumulation of ice on such a sidewalk it must be treated with sand, salt or other substance to prevent it from being slippery.
