Any idea what happened at the shelter that it was closed?

Hi Zena. I think that the “warming center closed” sign refers to their warming center only and not to the night sheltering program generally. In other words, the shelter runs a night sheltering program with certain rules and a limited capacity. Once the colder months come, they open the building as a warming center during the night so that homeless folks can stay inside – even if there isn’t room to give them a bed. There is a good explanation of their services here: link.

Thanks for the clarification, Jeff. I misread it.
