By way of background for Chronicle readers — many of whom do not follow sports of any kind and will not see the connection here — the University of Michigan plays Indiana University this Saturday in its homecoming football game.
I will be rooting for the Cream and Crimson of my home state, though it will likely be an exercise in futility.
