Planting shaped like what I would call a gazelle/antelope because I don’t know the name for it. At recent partnerships committee meeting of the DDA, executive director Susan Pollay mentioned something topiary-like in the offing for some of the downtown plantings. This, I have to think, is an example of what she meant. [photo]

I give that thing about a month tops before it disappears or vandalised.
This is not actually a planting – it was part of an installation by an art student (whom I believe was from EMU) who had asked the Mayor for some space. It was delightful, but temporary. I believe that topiary would be actual plants trimmed to look like various shapes. They abound in formal gardens in Europe, and bring delight to the eye.
By the way, this particular installatiaon was never vandalized.
Well, this is what happens when you leave town for ten days!! WHOOPS! Yup, you ar right Dave – that IS a topiary – the DDA landscaping service has been asked to do some “interesting things” – and there it is! So sorry – and, look in the future for veggies nestled among the flowers.
