That may, perhaps, have been your correspondent’s error. Will get a snapshot on my way home tomorrow.
The correct translation from the original Italian “Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch’intrate” and the placement of “all” seems to be uncertain, see this list. I, alas, do not speak Italian, and may consult fellow Workantiler Andrea Pertosa for his thoughts on translation.
