Editor’s note: This is the third year that Myra Klarman, a professional photographer based in Ann Arbor, has graced The Chronicle with her charming photographs of the annual Main Street Halloween Treat Parade, when merchants pass out goodies to pint-sized princesses and puppies, ghouls and goblins. [Take a look at her images from 2009 and 2008 Halloween parades as well.] After seeing Myra’s photographs last year, one of our readers commented: “This makes me like our town.” We agree. Happy Halloween!

Blue Ghoul Princess with face painted white, out along Main Street causing a fright.

Cute little charmer, a beflowered young lass, gathers up candy in her skirt of grass.

Purple Butterfly, her bag made of green, beflutters, beflitters the Halloween scene.

Scary Striped Pirate, a bucket of loot, terrifies merchants if "terror" is cute.

In Wonderland Alices wander downtown, looking for rabbit holes they can fall down.

Darling Dalmatian, you're quite a cute pup, does everyone ask you: Hey, Dawg, what's up?

Two Cutie Pies, always better than one, hang on to your hat now, Halloween has begun.

Both Beat Cop and Bunny, have crime-fighting merits, keep citizens safe from bad guys and carrots.

Little Blue Princess, grasps her wand tight, charms all the merchants, with her pearly whites.

Green Sleeping Beauty, with a small button nose, dreams of frogs and sweet peas, in a Halloween doze.

Moosejaw Princess hands out Halloween treats, confused trick-or-treaters ask what's on her feets.

One foot on the pavement, and one on the wall, this Halloween Spider-Man, ready to crawl.

Poem: Sometimes a label makes it so.

The Little Green Monster, a real scary sight, giving all passers-by a furry big fright.

Little Miss Ladybug, says goodbye to the day, takes a ride in her buggy, there'll be treats on the way.
Okay, here’s the thing:
You guys are amazing.
The poems totally make these sing!!!
(Um… I think I’d better stick to photography. Thanks so much for the posting again this year!)
Happy Halloween!

Thank you to both The Chronicle and Myra Klarman for capturing the Treat Parade on film and in words. The Main Street Area Association, a nonprofit merchant organization, sponsors this event every year. Member businesses pay annual dues to help make events like this possible. In addition these generous business owners purchase a ridiculous amount of candy to make this event a success. If events like this make you like our town please make every effort to support the businesses that them possible. Check out the MSAA website for a complete list of member businesses.
I am a huge fan of Myra Klarman. She is the BEST! Thanks for posting her beautiful photos. I am uplifted by looking at them. Ellen
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again–if I had 1/1000 of the talent of Myra, maybe my sad little pictures wouldn’t look like they were being taken by the back of my head.
Beautiful work, as always :)
Thanks to both Myra and The Chronicle; these are sweet.
I got way more out of the dozen, or so, candid shots here and the fun captions than I did from the more than 150 posed shots published elsewhere.
As always – wonderful images that capture the spirit of a fun community event!!
