7:40 p.m. In the post office parking lot behind the old Pretzel Bell building, a person juggling flaming torches, one person standing very close by. Strangely, no one else stops to watch.

“The old Pretzel Bell building”–I haven’t thought about that building that way in a long time. It’s been closed for 25 years–do people still think of the P-Bell when they’re on that corner?
I moved here after it had closed and have to do a mental file riffle to get “Champion House”.
I think the building is still technically called the Pretzel Bell Building, although the businesses inside are different. I’ll try to remember to look for the plaque on the building to see if it is there.
I have one of the stained glass lamps from the Pretzel Bell and I know where the carved tables are, too. Remember when you turned 21, you stood on the table top and rang the bell then carved your name in the table? Good times.
Ah, yes…the old P-Bell. A cozy brick-lined room, a crackling fire, the Tiffany lamps, the photos of former football players adorning the walls, the good black German rye bread, the prime rib—I think that’s the reason we moved to AA in the mid-60′s. Oh, and right, there was a job offer, too.
I will confess that I wanted to pay homage to the past. And in my family, it is the old Pretzel Bell. Although it does age me I suppose – and I’m just a shade past 50.
@By Juliew: Yes, there is still a plaque on the wall.
