I think we should all just stop going outside. It’s not worth it.

Some of us really struggle to get our walks and the ramps to the street clear, and along come the plows and it gets undone.

Maybe it would have been a better idea to help her rather than write a post about it on the Internet?

Knowing Mary, I am quite sure that she DID help her first and later wrote the post about it! There were quite a few problems at crosswalks near the UM, but I noticed that people were helping other people traverse them. These snow-covered paths are particularly tricky for individuals with mobility challenges, of course, so if you can assist a wheelchair user or elderly person, etc.–after asking whether he/she needs help–please do.

I was a ways away when I saw the situation – the woman had conquered the snowpile before I got to the intersection. (Thanks for coming to my defense, Anna!)

Clearing snow at crosswalks for homeowners who have difficulty doing it would be a great community service project. The current situation is dreadful for those with any mobility impairment.

What I don’t understand is why some businesses seem to think it’s enough to clear their parking lots and driveways, but ignore their responsibilities for sidewalks.

According to rumor this property was cited by the Ann Arbor Police Community Standards Division on Friday 2/11. The out of town owners allegedly contacted the contractor that has been hired to do the snow removal. While I do not know the name of that company, I have seen trucks from Outer Pride there in the past. They came and salted and cleared some, the sun helped some, and a tenant did the remaining work to clear these walks.
